Celtic winger Daizen Maeda was key as the Hoops stormed to a dominant 5-1 win over Slovan Bratislava in the UEFA Champions League last night.

The Bhoys were relentless from start to finish, scoring several goals and refusing to let up.

Liam Scales bagged the opener early doors before Kyogo Furuhashi made it two not long into the second half. Arne Engels, Daizen Maeda, and Adam Idah then bagged amidst Kevin Wimmer’s consolation.

Celtic can take considerable encouragement from last night’s historic win. They more than stepped up to the plate and secured their biggest victory in Europe’s premier club competition.

Winger Maeda was delighted to ‘finally’ get his first goal in the Champions League, and this morning, the 26-year-old made a brilliant social media post.

Indeed, the Japanese wide-man took to Instagram following yesterday evening’s impressive victory, thanking the fans for their support and vowing to continually run for the team

Maeda has become a key player for Celtic over the past few months.

He always caught the eye under Ange Postecoglou, but with Brendan Rodgers as his boss, the attacker has found a coherent level of consistency in his performances and moulded into a critical member of the team.

What he brings to the table is difficult to replace, proving how crucial he is to the way Celtic operate.
