Director of football hints Celtic might land their next signing after Kieran Tierney and Ross Doohan
Celtic already have two fresh faces through the door for next season.
Kieran Tierney is back, and goalkeeper Ross Doohan has also returned, as Brendan Rodgers continues to reshape his squad.
The return of Tierney has certainly excited the Celtic Park fanbase, but it was expected, and you want something different.
And the champions of Scotland might get that as they look to enhance their forward line, especially with Jota injured for the long term, and doubts over Nicolas Kuhn’s future.
Even without the issue of those two things, you could argue that Celtic still needed another wide player, and one might be edging closer to landing on the club’s doorstep.
Benjamin Nygren edging closer to Celtic transfer?
Nordsjaelland director of football, Alexander Riget, has been speaking about the club’s transfer activity and what might happen this summer.
Riget namechecked Celtic transfer target Benjamin Nygren, including how he has ‘performed very well’ over several seasons, and providing ‘stability’ to Nordsjælland’s forward line.
But, speaking to Tipsbladet, Riget admitted that ‘offers can come in’ for their players who are performing, they are ‘looking for players in different places on the pitch’, and there is ‘great and early interest in offensive, young players’.
“When you play with so many young players, and they make their debut on various A-national teams, offers can come in, and that is something we are continuously evaluating.
“We are looking for players in different places on the pitch where they can help increase our level and provide more stability.
“For example, we can see that there is great and early interest in offensive, young players, so it is always a good idea if we have a player like Benjamin Nygren, who has performed well over a number of years and given us stability in the front line.
