Inside King Power Stadium: Leicester City pre-season plans, Ipswich and Southampton comparisons

The latest news from around the King Power Stadium with Leicester City close to returning to pre-season and with preparations for the new Championship campaign ramping up

Pre-season begins for Leicester City in less than a week’s time and their first match follows shortly afterwards.

Who will be on the touchline shouting instructions at the City players when they host Peterborough at Seagrave is so far uncertain amid the doubts over Ruud van Nistelrooy’s future.

But the players’ return to training and the make-up of the squad and coaching staff for the first friendly will provide some information to supporters who are craving updates.

Here’s the latest from around the King Power Stadium.

Communication comparisons made

With Ipswich and Southampton promoted and relegated alongside City, comparisons between the three clubs are inevitable.

And City fan group the Foxes Trust have used the club’s rivals to make a point over the lack of communication from the hierarchy, which remains one of the big issues among supporters.

In their latest post, they have pointed out that both the Ipswich chairman Mark Aston and Southampton technical director Johannes Spors have given media interviews over the past few months.

In the meantime, City’s chairman Aiyawatt ‘Top’ Srivaddhanaprabha has only communicated through programme notes, while director of football Jon Rudkin has not been heard from at all.

Communication is one of the topics in the Foxes Trust’s survey, which closes for responses this week. Over 3,000 fans have given their views so far, with the results to be published in July.

City start their schedule of pre-season friendlies against Peterborough and then welcome sister club OH Leuven to Seagrave a week later.

Then they will head abroad for a training camp. While overseas, City have a few opponents lined up to play in pre-season matches, but that list does not include Austrian side TSV Hartberg.
