City Ground hero among three options who could replace Antonio Dias at Nottingham Forest
Reports broke this morning that Nottingham Forest assistant António Dias would be leaving the club to join José Mourinho in Turkey.
It is believed he will become assistant manager at Fenerbahçe ahead of next season as the club look to win the league title and take it away from rivals Galatasaray.
This now leaves Nottingham Forest and Nuno Espirito Santo without an assistant ahead of the new season, as the club are set to embark on a European campaign for the first time in decades, following qualification to the Europa Conference League.
So, here are three options Nottingham Forest could bring in to replace António Dias.
Chris Cohen
A fan favourite at Nottingham Forest, having joined the club and spent 11 years with Forest throughout spells in the Championship and League One.
He made a total of 303 appearances in the red jersey of Forest, scoring a total of 17 goals.
Following his retirement, he was made first team coach at Luton Town under Nathan Jones, deciding to leave Forest, where he was the head coach of the Under-23s.
Cohen joined Jones at Southampton before the Welsh manager lost his job at the then-Premiership side, seeing the former Nottingham Forest player join Tom Shaw at Lincoln City.
He is again at Lincoln City in the same role after a spell at Stoke City, but he is widely respected by other coaches and has a number of years of experience; a move to Forest would make sense.
João Lapa
Nuno Espírito Santo has been quite loyal when it comes to his coaching staff, usually bringing together a team he trusts when he is appointed at a new club.
João Lapa was among this special group, as he was part of Santo’s team at both Wolves and Spurs before opting to go his own direction and join Famalicão in a similar role.
