DONE:Leeds United player rejected leaving Elland Road after promotion and wants a new contract

Leeds United look set for a major overhaul of the playing squad this summer with plenty of comings and goings expected at Elland Road.

For Daniel Farke, the summer transfer window lying ahead may well be the biggest of his career. Succeed and he could be a Premier League manager with Leeds United for years to come. Fail and he could be the first managerial casualty of the 2025/26 Premier League season.

We’ve now had reports confirming that Farke will be Leeds United manager for next season after some almost bizarre speculation about his future at the club, immediately following promotion to the Premier League.

It’s also understood that Leeds United are ready to spend £100million or more in the summer transfer window, and it’s certainly needed with this current Leeds side lacking both Premier League quality and depth.

Expect there to be some major outgoings too, though, with Sam Byram looking like one who’s set to leave.

Sam Byram says he hopes to be a part of Leeds United’s future

Byram, 31, is among the Leeds United players out of contract in 2025. He, Junior Firpo and Josuha Guilavogui are all out of contract this summer and all look set to move on as things stand. But Byram is keen to stay on.

Leeds United re-signed Byram in the summer of 2023 with the full-back reuniting with former Norwich City boss Farke – who once described Byram as a ‘quality’ player – and repaying him with 70 total Championship appearances in the two campaigns since.

Speaking to The Athletic, Byram has insisted that he hopes to be a part of the club’s future under the 49ers, saying: “Now we’ve achieved the final target, I’m sure they’ll speak as a team, investors, everyone, and make a plan for the future.
