Everton set for another stadium swap and reconstruction as club explores further options

The Under-21s have been using the Vanarama National League North’s stadium for a number of years

Everton’s Under-21s are no longer set to play at Southport FC as the club continues to assess its options ahead of the move to its new stadium.

The Blues had until the end of March to trigger an extension to the agreement that has seen Paul Tait’s side make use of Haig Avenue on matchdays. The likes of Jarrad Branthwaite and Nathan Patterson have played there this season when returning from injury.

Everton are understood to have decided not to take up the option of extending that deal.

While plans for the senior youth team have not yet been finalised, the club is thought to be exploring the possibility of using Walton Hall Park, should Everton Women move to Goodison Park. Goodison could also be made available to the U21s for some fixtures.

In a statement released following enquiries by the ECHO, Southport FC said: “The club can confirm that Everton U21s will no longer be using Haig Avenue to play their home matches.

“The partnership between SFC and EFC has been a positive one, with staff and players alike frequently saying how much they enjoy using our club and its facilities.

“Everton have been very open and honest in their reasons behind the decision to depart and leave on really good terms.

“The club are open to discussion for any potential parties wishing to use our ground in the future.”
