Nottingham Forest make contact over signing Cesc Fabregas’ wonderkid amid Callum Hudson-Odoi links
After a strong Premier League campaign, Nottingham Forest face a fight to keep some of their stars over the summer.
Manchester City’s interest in Morgan Gibbs-White has been known for some time now, Pep Guardiola’s side looking to strengthen their squad after a disappointing campaign by their usual standards.
In recent days, Callum Hudson-Odoi has been linked with Serie A clubs Roma and Napoli, both sides monitoring the 24-year-old.
With that information in mind, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have already been looking for reinforcements to bring to the City Ground, with contact made over one winger currently starring in Serie A.
Nottingham Forest make contact with Como 1907 for Assane Diao
According to GiveMeSport, the Reds have made initial contact with Serie A side Como 1907 for their 19-year-old winger Assane Diao.
Diao, who is currently managed by former Premier League winner Cesc Fabregas, joined Como in January from La Liga side Real Betis.
It means that Forest might have to stump up a significant amount to secure the services of the attacking winger.
However, since arriving in Italy, Diao has averaged a goal every other game, finding the back of the net eight times across 15 games so far.
It has helped Como avoid relegation from Italy’s top-flight after securing promotion from Serie B last term.
It also means that for that level of talent, a deal could be worth doing regardless of the fee.
How Assane Diao compares with Callum Hudson-Odoi
This season, Callum Hudson-Odoi has seven goal contributions from 29 Premier League games, scoring five and assisting two.
Including Diao’s stats for Real Betis in La Liga and the Europa Conference League before his move to Como, the Senegalese attacker has 14 goal contributions in 34 games, scoring 10 and assisting four.
