BEST RETURN EVER;Everton announces the return of former player to resign contract with club
Everton could seal a sensational return for John Stones in the summer transfer window.
The England international made 77 appearances for the Blues between 2013 and 2016 before joining Manchester City in a £50million deal.
The Blues could now bring the 30-year-old, who has won six Premier League titles with the Citizens, back to Merseyside.
Stones could return to Everton after City exit development
Stones was a fan favourite at Goodison Park and a surprise return could be on the cards just in time for the move to Bramley-Moore Dock.
A report from TBR Football (30 April) claims that the Etihad Stadium outfit are frustrated with the Three Lions ace’s constant injury issues.
Everton have been named among the clubs that are interested in Stones, with competition coming from the likes of West Ham and Brighton, Juventus and Saudi Pro League clubs.
The veteran has one year left on his contract with Pep Guardiola’s side and it remains to be seen what type of fee it would take to secure his services.
Everton could take a step up with Stones return
Stones is one of the best defenders in the world when he is fit, and his reading of the game, leadership and ball-playing ability in particular would take the Blues to a new level.
Moyes is looking for quality additions as he seeks to take the Toffees into the European qualification spots next season and the former Barnsley man would certainly fit the bill.
The 83-cap international boasts significant Champions League experience and a short-term deal may be a good solution for Moyes and Co.
A long-term contract would not be a good move, since Stones has made just 11 league appearances this season, which serves as a major red flag against signing him to a huge deal.
