Nottingham Forest make late bid for wonderkid but he wants to join Aston Villa instead
The time will soon come for Nottingham Forest to start scouring the market for new players ahead of next season.
Forest are in the midst of a battle to secure Champions League football next season and face a fight alongside a number of other clubs to qualify for the competition.
Forest have been linked with Viktor Gyokeres in the summer and although he might prove unobtainable, it’s clear the club will try and pull out the stops.
Evangelos Marinakis was desperate to sign a striker in January but failed in his quest and more firepower does feel highly likely in the summer.
It won’t just be new forwards who are on the agenda, however, and Nuno Espirito Santo will likely search for players in a number of positions.
Nottingham Forest make late bid for Rosenborg gem Sverre Nypan
According to TV2 in Norway, a late play was made by Forest to sign Norwegian wonderkid Nypan ahead of the summer transfer window.
It’s claimed that the player is valued at around £11 million and will be on his way to a top European league when the window reopens.
However, Forest fans should tread with caution before getting too excited, as it’s been claimed that the player now has his sights on a move to Aston Villa, with the Champions League hopefuls close to a deal.
Forest are now in the race to land the central midfielder during the summer, however, it would appear that the attempts to prise him away have come too late in the day.
Forest wise to focus on continuing transfer strategy
Last summer, a clear emphasis was placed on quality over quantity and that has worked well for the team given his this season has worked out.
