Nottingham Forest beat Tottenham 2-1 to breathe life into a Champions League quest that has been ongoing since December.

The Reds had suffered two successive defeats to Aston Villa and Everton, with pundits starting to change their minds over whether Forest had the minerals to maintain their push.

Ben Foster wrote Forest off after the defeat to Everton but Forest have done what they’ve managed so often this season and rammed those claims right back down the throat of the critics.

Elliot Anderson and Chris Wood scored the goals against Tottenham, with Forest now firmly back into contention for a place in next season’s Champions League.

Wood signed for Forest for a fee of £15 million and ultimately, he’s proved to be worth his weight in gold given the goals which he’s managed to score in the Garibaldi.

The 33-year-old scored 15 times in the Premier League last season and has followed that up during 2024/25 with 19 strikes coming from the talisman so far during the current campaign.

Micah Richards was keen to discuss the striker on this week’s edition of The Rest is Football and he’s astounded by the form he’s showcased for Forest during the season.

Richards said: “Can we just have a moment to talk about Chris Wood. He’s been unbelievable. Seriously.

“He’s been written off, he went to Newcastle, didn’t work out for him, but his mentality to overcome that and actually prove himself as more than just a big striker up there.

“His movement is excellent, he holds up the ball really well, his little touches around the corner are great. To score 19 goals in the Premier League with a team that plays like Forest do, he’s been ridiculously good.”
