West Ham interested in Juventus youngster Nicolo Savona
West Ham United are among a plethora of Premier League clubs keeping a close eye on Juventus defender Nicolo Savona, Tuttosport reports.
The East Londoners are gearing up for a crucial transfer window, and Savona is one of many names on their shopping cart.
Fortunately for West Ham, Juventus may not be opposed to a sale.
Savona is versatile. He can play as a centre-back, right-back, or full-back. That adds to his already fast-rising stock.
A series of impressive performances in Serie A also has a lot of clubs paying keen attention to his development.
His composure is also a defining part of his game. He has shown he can do a job at a decent level, although consistency might be his Achilles Heel.
Nevertheless, he’s still highly sought after. Savona’s contract with Juventus runs until 2029, so the Serie A powerhouse are under no immediate pressure to do business.
That said, they wouldn’t completely shut the door to a potential exit.
If a lucrative offer arrives, the Old Lady could be inclined to cash in – they value the versatile defender at €25 million (£21m).
Juventus’ valuation works for West Ham. It’s no surprise they’re seriously weighing up a move. But with Bournemouth and Everton also in the mix, they’d need to ramp up their efforts to get a deal over the line.
West Ham can do better
There’s nothing truly special about Savona. He hasn’t shown enough to prove he can compete at the highest level. He’s versatile, but that’s about it.
West Ham have had a lot of hits and misses in the past. Not too long ago, they spent over £120m and somehow left the team in worse shape.
Savona isn’t an upgrade on what is currently available on West Ham’s roster. If he comes in, he will play second fiddle to Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
