Brighton and Hove Albion continue to chase new signings with Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley one name on the radar for Fabian Hurzeler.
The Seagulls kick off their Premier League campaign against Everton this weekend as new boss Fabian Hurzeler starts his first season in England.
Brighton have bolstered their squad with Yankuba Minteh signing from Newcastle United and ex-Feyenoord teammate Mats Wieffer joined him on the South Coast.
HITC understands that another new signing is close with Brighton pushing to sign Brajan Gruda from Mainz.
A deal worth €30million (£25.6million) is in the pipeline as the Seagulls close in on one of German football’s top young talents.Brighton chase Matt O’Riley
Gruda isn’t the only target though and Brighton are chasing a creative midfielder for Hurzeler’s approach.
HITC understands that Brighton are continuing to hold talks over a move for Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley as they battle Italian outfit Atalanta to land the Danish playmaker.
O’Riley has been branded ‘incredible’ by Kris Boyd and hit 19 goals alongside 18 assists in all competitions last season.
HITC has confirmed bids from both Brighton and Atalanta as they look to agree terms with Celtic, who have been demanding a club-record fee to sell him.
That fee would be around £25million – a figure which Atalanta and Brighton are yet to reach.
Brighton have money to spend after allowing Pascal Gross and Deniz Undav to move to Germany with Borussia Dortmund and Stuttgart respectively.
The Seagulls want O’Riley to help fill Gross’s absence whilst Atalanta have plans for O’Riley as they are close to finalising the sale of their midfield playmaker Teun Koopmeiners to Juventus.
HITC is told that Celtic are expecting O’Riley to leave and they have already signed his potential successor on the shape of Paulo Bernardo.
Celtic have now finalised the signing of Adam Idah on a permanent basis too, bringing back two loanees on a full-time basis.
Ferdi Kadioglu update
Brighton remain in the market for more signings and Fenerbahce star Ferdi Kadioglu has been heavily linked.
The full back – who can play on the left or right flank – impressed with Turkiye at Euro 2024 and a move to the Amex Stadium has been speculated.
Milliyet report today that Brighton have made an offer to sign Kadioglu and he wants a Premier League move.
However, HITC understands that, whilst Brighton have shown an interest in signing Kadioglu, the club insist that no offer has been made so far.
Gruda and O’Riley appear to be the focus for Brighton right now but Kadioglu is at least a name on their radar ahead of the transfer deadline.
