Nottingham Forest promotion hero shines during last-gasp win vs European giants, he made nine clearances
Nottingham Forest have had a high turnover of players since returning to the Premier League, with the club arguably coming back to the top-flight ahead of schedule.
The Reds had five loan players who all returned to their parent clubs after promotion, whilst goalkeeper Brice Samba and club captain Lewis Grabban headed off to pastures new.
It meant that Steve Cooper had to throw together a squad, with the club helping him to the tune of 30 new players spread across two transfer windows, with much ridicule thrown in the direction of the club.
Forest had a brilliant team that won promotion and that clutch of players will forever be remembered as heroes and now, some of them are thriving with their respective clubs since leaving the City Ground.
Scott McKenna helps Las Palmas to memorable win vs Atletico Madrid
Los Rojiblancos saw their La Liga title aspirations take a huge setback as Las Palmas secured a brilliant 1-0 win over Diego Simeone’s side, with McKenna instrumental in the performance.
McKenna did prove to be the man for a big occasion at Forest. A number of big games saw the Scotland international star when he was on Trentside, and clearly, he’s still a player who gets himself up for the big games.
Last night, he played the full 90 minutes as Las Palmas ensured a memorable day for their fans. Javier Munoz scored the game’s only goal in the third minute of stoppage time to send the home support into raptures.
McKenna was a surprise signing for Las Palmas in the summer. He became a free agent at the end of his Forest contract, with another one not possible due to a contract dispute between his agent and Evangelos Marinakis.
