Championship club take Barry Ferguson inspiration and appoint ex-Rangers midfielder as interim manager
When Barry Ferguson came into Rangers, it was all about restoring the club’s values to a squad who didn’t quite understand what it means to play at Ibrox.
A disastrous season ended in tears on Thursday night, as Athletic Club got the rub of the green to progress against Rangers into the Europa League semi-finals.
Before Barry Ferguson came on board, Rangers had already crashed out of all three domestic competitions but such has been his impact, James Tavernier reckons Barry should be involved at the club next season.
Now, there’s shades of Rangers south of the border as Cardiff City appoint former Ibrox midfielder Aaron Ramsey until the end of the season.
Cardiff City appoint ex-Rangers midfielder Aaron Ramsey
Cardiff City have appointed Aaron Ramsey as interim manager until the end of the season after sacking Omer Riza.
Ramsey, 34, spent six months on loan at Rangers back in 2022 and infamously missed the decisive penalty kick in the Europa League Final defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt.

Rangers fans know all too well that feeling of turmoil and speaking ahead of this Easter weekend’s visit of Oxford United, Ramsey was in buoyant mood.
Ramsey will be joined in the dugout by Joe Ralls, Chris Gunter, Gavin Ward, Matthew Bloxham and Tom Hutton, a dream team of Cardiff-minded professionals similar to that brought in by Ferguson at Rangers.
