Ange Postecoglou to leave Tottenham’ despite reaching semi-final

Tottenham Hotspur lifting the Europa League title this season still won’t be enough for Ange Posteocglou to save his job.

Postecoglou’s side reached the last four of the Europa League on Thursday with a 1-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany, advancing with a 2-1 aggregate victory to book a semi-final date with Bodo/Glimt.

Spurs’ progression on the continent has still failed to mask their dismal campaign on the domestic front; sitting a lowly 15th in the Premier League and exiting both the EFL and FA Cups within a matter of days.

The Australian has come under massive pressure as a result in North London, but a Europa League title – which would be their first major trophy since back in 2008 – could still put a positive spin on the season.

However, former Tottenham and England goalkeeper Paul Robinson told Football Insider that regardless of Spurs’ progress in Europe, Postecoglou’s cards are marked after a complete breakdown in their form.

Tottenham to swing Postecoglou axe after ‘complete disconnect’

Former Manchester United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider this week that Daniel Levy has already made his mind up on Postecoglou’s future, and Robinson is in full agreement.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Robinson – Spurs’ starting keeper for their last success in the 2008 League Cup Final – can’t see anything other than the exit door beckoning for Postecoglou.

“I still don’t think winning the Europa League saves Ange because of the turbulent season they’ve had, and the way that supporters have become so disconnected with him and the club now”, he told Football Insider.

“As far as attracting players, you’re not getting those top players unless you’re offering European football or matching the Saudi Pro League money, and at the moment neither Manchester United or Tottenham can do that.
