Times journalist shares how many signings West Ham want and names three definitely leaving

A top journalist has revealed West Ham’s transfer plans for the summer including how many signings are wanted for which positions while naming three players who are leaving.

There has been claim and counter claim about West Ham’s summer transfer window plans.

One thing that is not up for debate, though, is that the Hammers are standing at a crossroads for their future.

The regression at West Ham over the last 18 months has been alarming.

The Hammers looked like a club on the rise as they stood just one win off the top four six months after winning their first major trophy for 43 years.

West Ham go from brink of Europe to brink of relegation zone

But they have fallen from being sixth and well placed to qualify for Europe after a 2-0 win over Arsenal on December 28th 2023, to sitting 17th on their third manager in that time and with just 13 wins in their last 51 league games.

Any further backward steps and the consequences are obvious.

But after Graham Potter promised fans “an exciting summer transfer window” the Hammers board confirmed they “expect to sign a few players”.

Head of recruitment Kyle Macaulay is working on identifying potential targets.

But he will undoubtedly have to lower his expectations after a spell at Chelsea where there was no limit to money or ambition.

With little left to play for this season, focus is already turning towards what is needed in the window, which opens in six weeks.

And the general consensus is that there is plenty of work to do.

As far as most fans are concerned, West Ham’s midfield needs to be completely overhauled.
