SHOCKING NEWS;Celtic ‘offer’ left-back Greg Taylor a three-year deal

Celtic have offered Greg Taylor a new three-year deal, according to fresh reports.

The Scotland international is out of contract this summer, with the likes of GNK Dinamo in Croatia interested in his services as a free agent.

With Kieran Tierney set to rejoin Celtic, as well as potential talks with on-loan winger Jeffrey Schlupp, it looked as if both sides were resigned to a parting of the ways at the end of the 2024/25 season between Taylor and his current club.

However, The Daily Record have reported that Celtic have ‘upped the ante’ and offered the 27-year-old extended terms, by way of a contract until 2028.

Celtic’s number three made his return to the starting line-up last Saturday, putting in a man-of-the-match performance against his former team, Kilmarnock, in a 5-1 win over Derek McInnes’ side.

Before the game, he paraded his newborn daughter Ruvie as a mascot when heading out of the tunnel, a clip which has gone viral online.

Last month, it looked as if Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers was resigned to Taylor’s departure. “I’ve been in this position so many times, and I can read situations,” Rodgers said.

“It’s probably more likely now that Greg will move on than stay, which is a big shame for me because I love him as a person, and I love his game because it’s suited to how we work.

“It’s not financial, but I respect his position because he wants to feel he’ll play every week. Whoever is in next year with Kieran will still play a lot of games, but my feeling is that Greg may well move on.

“I know between now and the end of the season, he’ll give his all. Greg has had a few years in the position and has been superb. He’ll also get more games this season.”

Taylor has made 210 appearances for Celtic since joining on Deadline Day in 2019 under Neil Lennon.
