Latest Nottingham Forest transfer news as Nuno Espirito Santo’s Reds look ahead to key summer window
Nottingham Forest are said to have made an offer to sign Como 1907 winger Assane Diao this summer.
The highly-regarded teenager has long been linked with a switch to the City Ground. Talk of the Reds’ interest first emerged 12 months ago and Diao has been the subject of speculation since.
He ended up leaving Real Betis for Como in an €11.5 million (£9.8m) deal in January after struggling for regular game time in Spain. But he could soon be on the move again, with suggestions Forest have signalled their intent to snap him up.
Reports claim the Reds have made a €40m (£34m) offer for the 19-year-old. Spanish publication Fichajes suggest Forest are prepared to spend big “to secure” his signature.
It is said Como could find such a fee “difficult to refuse”. However, the Italian outfit may yet decide they want “to see more of their player” before making a final call on his future.
Since switching to Serie A, Diao has been in fine form. The Senegal international, who is described as “one of the most promising players in European football” has bagged six goals and weighed in with one assist in 14 league appearances.
Any move would not only boost the coffers of Como. Fichajes state Real Betis would receive 20 percent of any sale of the youngster, which would be in the region of €8m (£6.8m) if he departs for the reported fee.
Manchester United have also been mooted as potential suitors for Diao. Meanwhile, Feyenoord had a bid rejected last summer and it had been suggested they could try their luck again.
Additionally, Tuttomercatoweb report Juventus are keen. It is claimed the Italian giants’ interest comes “mostly because.
