Leeds United are edging closer to a return to the Premier League, though Mateo Joseph has rarely been afforded the chance to impact that.

Daniel Farke’s side moved eight points clear of third-place Sheffield United with a 2-1 victory against Preston on Saturday afternoon, courtesy of goals from Manor Solomon and Jayden Bogle.

With just four games remaining, and Burnley yet to face the Blades, promotion is once again looking almost nailed on for Leeds, though attacking concerns have still been present.

Joel Piroe once again led the line for the Whites, in a decision that will have Joseph questioning his future at Elland Road.

Farke has underused Joseph this season

Leeds United turned down a huge bid for Joseph in the winter, leaving many to assume that the Spaniard would have a big role to play in the second half of the campaign.

Throughout that time, Piroe has started every single league fixture, despite failing to score in any of his last eight, and just one of his last 10.
Joseph is at a stage in his career where he needs to be playing regular football, and if that isn’t arriving in the Championship, it certainly won’t in the Premier League, given the fact that the Whites will almost certainly be looking to add a new number nine in the summer.
With that in mind, it would not be a surprise at all to see Joseph express his desire to seek greener pastures and force a move away from Leeds in the summer in a bid to kickstart his senior career.
