UNBELIEVABLE NEWS;West Ham board announces the sack of club manager Graham Potter
West Ham are unlikely to sack Graham Potter in the summer despite frustrations surrounding a disappointing season, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that that is would take “something drastic” for the Hammers to pull the trigger despite a string of underwhelming results.
Instead, plans are being put in place to back the manager in the transfer window with players who are more suited to his style of play.
Since Potter took over from Julen Lopetegui in January, the Hammers have won just three games a 3-2 victory against Fulham, a 1-0 win away to Arsenal and a 2-0 victory against Leicester.
Following a late 2-1 defeat against Liverpool, the Hammers are winless in their last five games and have dropped to 17th in the Premier League table with 35 points.
However, the board feel there have been noticeable improvements to the style of play under Potter and he will be given time to stamp his mark on the club.
West Ham board to back Graham Potter in transfer latest
While results this season have not been good enough and many at the London Stadium have been left frustrated, a busy summer transfer window is expected.
As part of a major overhaul of the first-team squad, Football Insider revealed ten players could leave West Ham in a potential mass summer exodus.
This would free up space in the squad and room to manoeuvre with the wage budget as they aim to bring in multiple new faces.
West Ham spent over £100million to back Lopetegui last summer, and are prepared to do the same for Potter, although outgoing deals will be prioritised first.
This comes after Football Insider revealed West Ham want to sign Oumar Solet as a replacement for Konstantinos Mavropanos, who Potter is not keen on.
