The deal for Celtic to sign Adam Idah from Norwich City is now all but done and dusted after a summer of negotiations between the Scottish champions and the English Championship side.

The Republic of Ireland international had a great spell on loan last season after signing a temporary deal in January until the end of the season.

The Scottish champions will pay an upfront fee of £8.5m with another £1m worth of add-ons to make the offer surpass that of the record fee paid for Edouard.

However, that fee could be further bulked up after The Canaries inserted a 15% sell-on clause of any future fee Celtic may get. It’s not been made known if that percentage is solely based on profit.

The report also says Idah is ‘ready’ to agree to a ‘long term’ deal and looking at how Celtic have been doing business of late, that is likely to be a five-year contract.

After 19 appearances and nine goals including the Scottish Cup winner against Rangers, Brendan Rodgers made Adam Idah one of his top targets for the summer and now, it seems, the Celtic boss has finally got his man.

The deal will become the most expensive in Scottish football history after Celtic paid £9m to PSG for Odsonne Edouard.

Celtic’s £9.5m deal to buy Adam Idah in full

Sky Sports reports that the deal that persuaded Norwich to sell Idah to Celtic could be worth in excess of £9.5m.The move will be completed following a medical.

The move will make Idah Bredan Rodgers’ fourth summer signing of the new season and will help offer support and competition for Kyogo Furuhashi who was Celtic’s only recognised striker.

With the Japanese forward having an issue with his shoulder at the weekend, the timing of the deal to bring Idah to the club could not have been better.

Celtic can now look forward to the League Cup clash with Hibs on Sunday at Celtic Park where the fans will be hopeful to see Idah once again in the green and white Hoops.
