Italian and American clubs want to sign Rangers star who’s on big money at Ibrox

Rangers have a number of players that are linked with moves away in the summer transfer window.

With new owners and potentially a new manager in place, too, there could be overhauling on and off the pitch.

Thus far, a decision is yet to be made on the future of interim boss Barry Ferguson.

James Tavernier eyed by clubs in the United States and Italy

James Tavernier has another year left to run on his deal at Ibrox, but he is subject to transfer interest for this window.

It’s understood that there are clubs in the United States and Italy keen on securing the services of the 33-year-old right-back, per TEAMtalk.

He is the top earner at Gers so offloading him would free up a significant amount of space on the wage bill ahead of next season.

As his contract expires in the summer of 2026, this is the last major window the Ibrox outfit have to cash in on his services.

Despite his inconsistencies, Tavernier has been a mainstay in the side and has also been deployed in central defence.

It makes sense to cash in on Tavernier as he’s not a long-term option for the Ibrox outfit and that’s something that could mean a lot this summer.

The San Francisco 49ers are likely to start with a clean slate and will not want liabilities going forward.

Despite what Tavernier offers off the pitch, most fans would agree that if an eleven is to be built for winning the league, he would not make it.

Ferguson and previous managers have had to play the Englishman because there have been no better options.

Hopefully, the new owners priortise a right-back in the summer and get Tavernier off the wage bill along with banking a transfer fee as well.
