Latest Nottingham Forest verdict as Reds have a number of contract situations to sort ahead of summer transfer window

Incomings and outgoings are an inevitability at Nottingham Forest this summer in what already has the makings of being a crucial transfer window.

With seven games of the Premier League season remaining, it looks likely the Reds will be playing in Europe next season. Competing on the continent will involve a whole new level of planning when it comes to putting together Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad for 2025/26.

Forest have very solid foundations to build upon, of course. There is a strong group already in place at the City Ground. Indeed, keeping hold of their star players will once again be key for the club – as was the case 12 months ago.

It was a big statement of intent by the Reds to get brilliant Brazilian Murillo and top scorer Chris Wood tied down to new deals in January. The former was being eyed by plenty of clubs at the time, and continues to have many admirers, and his teammate was due to be out of contract in June.

As the transfer window begins to loom large on the horizon, Forest have a few other contract situations in need of sorting out. Getting others to put pen to paper could arguably be as important pieces of business for the club as any new additions they oversee this summer. NottinghamshireLive takes a look at the key deals for the Reds to sort.

Ola Aina

Current contract:Due to expire in June, although a 12-month extension option counts in Forest’s favour. However, discussions have taken place regarding longer terms for the full-back.

Last week, it was reported Aina was “preparing” to sign a two-year deal with a further 12-month option and a salary increase included.
