Marco Rose;Rangers readying to appoint him as Barry Ferguson replacement and new manager at Ibrox
Rangers are plotting a stunning move to tempt under-fire RB Leipzig boss Marco Rose to Ibrox, sources have told Football Insider.
They are planning to be in the market for top managers if they become available this summer given the size, stature and ambitions of the club.
Prospective new owners 49ers Enterprises also have strong connections with Red Bull, who have a significant investment in Leeds, which could provide a boost.
However, well-placed sources say the deal would be difficult for Rangers to pull off amid question marks over whether Rose would be interested in the job.
If the German manager is dismissed come the end of the season, he is likely to have no shortage of clubs interested in his services.
This comes after Football Insider revealed that RB Leipzig want Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner to take over from Rose, whose side currently sit fifth in the Bundesliga.
Rangers plotting big-name manager appointment at Ibrox
Former Aberdeen CEO Keith Wyness told Football Insider on 20 March that Rangers want to appoint a big-name manager, despite talk Barry Ferguson could be offered the role.
Ferguson was given the job on an interim basis following Philippe Clement’s dismissal last month, and was widely expected to step aside at the end of the season.
Since then, however, he has achieved victories against Celtic at Parkhead and against Fenerbahce in the Europa League, placing himself firmly among the contenders.
The likes of Jose Mourinho, Rafa Benitez and Steven Gerrard have also been linked with the role as the process remains ongoing behind the scenes.
Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on 28 February that 49ers Enterprises will take their time to identify the ideal candidate rather than rushing into a decision.
