I will not play again: Sunderland AFC key player has decided to quit due to…

REGIS Le Bris has made three changes to his Sunderland team for tonight’s game against Preston, with Wilson Isidor and Eliezer Mayenda starting together up-front.

Isidor replaces Alan Browne in the side, with Dennis Cirkin coming in for Leo Hjelde and Tommy Watson starting on the left flank instead of Romaine Mundle.

It’s Watson’s first start since mid-December with the winger having returned to action from the bench in the weekend win over Cardiff City.

Jobe Bellingham starts in midfield despite the teenager being one yellow card away from a two-match ban. Tonight’s game is the last match before the suspension cut-off.

Chris Rigg is again on the bench for the Black Cats, as are the three players who’ve dropped out of the side.

SUNDERLAND: Patterson, Hume, Mepham, O’Nien, Cirkin, Roberts, Neil, Bellingham, Watson, Mayenda, Isidor

SUBS: Moore, Browne, Rigg, Mundle, Seelt, Aleksic, Hjelde, Anderson, Jones

PRESTON: Woodman; Porteous, Gibson, Hughes, Kesler-Hayden, Thordarson, Ledson (c), Meghoma, Potts, Greenwood, Riis.

It was a slow start to the contest, with Sunderland’s chances being far and few in the opening 30 minutes of the tie, but the Black Cats sprung back into life before the break, with Wilson Isidor getting a chance with a free header, but the Frenchman could only hit it wide.

Kicking off the second half, where Le Bris made no changes, Preston started the brighter of the two, with former Sunderland target Emil Riis getting a chance one-on-one with Anthony Patterson, but his effort was skewed wide. However, the Danishman didn’t rue that mistake for too long, having put his side ahead in the 65th minute, with Sunderland finding themselves behind.

However, substitute Romaine Mundle came to the rescue for the Black Cats, with the winger scoring a bending effort that was struck brilliantly to find the back of former Newcastle United man Freddie Woodman’s net.
