REPORT: Leeds United verbally agree deal for ex-player to secure sensational summer return
Leeds United fans will be delighted to know that a former player looks all but set to make a return to Elland Road in the summer transfer window.
Leeds United look to have their first summer signing lined up, even despite a dip in form in the Championship, and newfound fears of missing out on promotion once again.
Coming up to a year ago, Leeds United lost the Championship play-off final to Southampton who’ve since proved to be a dreadful addition to the top flight, sitting in last place with just nine points to their name.
But Daniel Farke now has Leeds’ sight set on the title. But last time out, the Whites lost 1-0 at Portsmouth and allowed Sheffield United in 2nd to move level points, with Burnley in 3rd just two points behind.
Despite the blip, Leeds have been working on a deal for former player Kalvin Phillips, and it looks like the 29-year-old will seal a sensational Elland Road return this summer; providing Leeds secure promotion.
Leeds United agree Kalvin Phillips deal with Manchester City
An emerging report from TeamTalk has revealed the shock news that ‘a verbal agreement has been reached between Phillips and Leeds to return’, with the Whites having been working on a deal for the best part of a year now, per the report, and having come close to signing the England international last summer.
The same report from TeamTalk states that any deal for Phillips to move back to Elland Road, three years after his £45million move to the Etihad, ‘will likely be subject to Leeds once again securing promotion’, as well as Leeds and Man City agreeing a fee.
Pep Guardiola is ready to let Phillips leave after a tough spell in Manchester and it’s understood that £20million would be enough for the 49ers to bring Phillips back to Leeds United.
