Leeds United announce plans for life after Angus Kinnear

Leeds United CEO Angus Kinnear is expected to join Everton as their new chief executive under the fresh ownership of The Friedkin Group. The announcement is reportedly imminent from the Toffees, meaning that the 47-year-old will leave Elland Road after eight years.

Kinnear joined Leeds in June 2017 and since then has been responsible for the club’s executive decisions since then. However, with the Englishman now on course to depart for Everton, Leeds United have already started working to plan life after Kinnear.

According to The Athletic, the Whites are set to appoint Peter McCormick as the club’s new non-executive director. Kinnear will stay at Elland Road until the end of the season. However, Leeds owners have not wasted any time in responding to the expected departure as McCormick will begin his role immediately.

McCormick has a vast CV in footballing administration. He was appointed as Premier League’s interim chairman unanimously by all 20 Premier League clubs between January 2022 to January 2023. He also holds seats on three FA committees.

McCormick was in a director’s role at Leeds in the nineties and will now oversee the transition following Kinnear’s exit. The non-executive director will not be tasked with managing club’s daily administration but would represent the owners when they are unavailable for the board meetings.

Leeds are yet to announce a new CEO but McCormick’s arrival will help the club in easing the transition.
