Disappeared again’ – Growing regret player rejected Tottenham in January
Tottenham Hotspur reportedly came close to signing AC Milan’s Fikayo Tomori in the winter transfer window.
A fee was agreed with the Italian giants and a move was about to go through, before the centre-back rejected the idea of an exit as he wanted to stay at the San Siro.
Tuttomercatoweb have now assessed Tomori’s situation. They state that the centre-back has now ‘disappeared again’ in the Milan backline pecking order.
While he did impress for a couple of games after he rejected Tottenham, he has not featured even once in the last three Serie A games and has remained on the bench.
The feeling is that the 27-year-old’s decision to not join Tottenham can cost the Rossoneri from a financial perspective.
There is a lingering risk of Tomori’s ‘economic devaluation’ and the outlet believe that the player should have definitely been sold in January. This would have made sure that Sergio Conceicao earned a higher fee from the transfer than what they will earn in the summer.
The argument is that Tomori’s insistence on staying is impacting Milan and the player’s own game time and development.
Luckily, help could be on the way this summer.
Tottenham are favourites to sign Eberechi Eze this summer, while Marc Guehi is a Tottenham target this summer too.
Meanwhile, Spurs have a clause in place that will allow them to sign Johnny Cardoso from Real Betis.
Speaking on Call it What You Want, former USA striker, Charlie Davies, has been discussing Cardoso’s potential move to Tottenham after his starring performance against Real Madrid at the weekend.
Tottenham set for Johnny Cardoso bargain
Davies spoke about Cardoso and his potential move to Tottenham.
The pundit reckons that this will be a bargain signing for Spurs, while he pondered how Cardoso would fit into this Spurs team.
