How Celtic have made Rangers look stupid as wage bill comparison made and Ibrox club ‘throwing money away’

Celtic are in a better place both on and off the pitch than Rangers, and it has hardly been more apparent.

Brendan Rodgers is on course to win another Scottish Premiership title while he already has landed the Premier Sports Cup this season and the Scottish Cup is still there to play for.

Then there is the small matter of finances in the club coffers at Celtic which sits at a pretty £70million plus with Rangers by comparison nowhere near that right now.

In recent financial details released last year, Gers somehow had a wage bill that was inexplicably higher than Celtic’s for 2024. And considering the players they have over there at Ibrox, it proves the decision making at the club has been woeful.

Andy Walker says Rangers are ‘throwing money away’ compared to smart Celtic

Celtic may have overtaken that since with the numbers reportedly closer to £61.1m for Gers and £65.6m for the Hoops now.

But pundit and ex-Celt Andy Walker is still adamant Gers have been poor with their cash and have been “throwing it away” over the years on sub-par players.

“It’s not so long ago and I don’t know if it still is. Rangers had a bigger wage bill than Celtic,” Walker said on GO Radio.

“You can spend all the money you want if you’re not getting the right character, if you’re not getting the right player with the ability to cope with the demands here, then you’re throwing money away.

“Time and time again, Celtic will go and spend one, two, three million on a player and sell them for seven, eight, nine, 10 or more.

“And Rangers, I think, looking at some of the players that they’ve done business with over the last number of years, letting people go to the end of their contracts.
