Hamza Igamane ‘losing enjoyment’ at Rangers as Ibrox exit claim made

Hamza Igamane has enjoyed a superb debut campaign as a Rangers player, but he may now be loosing his enjoyment at Ibrox.

Morocco Under-23s international Igamane has been a shrewd piece of transfer business for Rangers, having arrived from AS Far for a reported £1.7million plus add-ons.

Igamane has netted 13 goals and assisted a couple more in 30 Scottish Premiership and Europa League outings combined for Rangers so far.

However, the 22-year-old has gone eight games without a goal involvement of any sort heading into Rangers’ clash with Motherwell at Ibrox on Saturday (1 March).

Derek Ferguson makes Igamane claim

Igamane has been linked with the likes of Everton and West Ham United, albeit that speculation has died down in recent weeks.

That is partly because the winter transfer window has closed for business, but also because Igamane has lost a bit of his sparkle.

In the view of player-turned-pundit Derek Ferguson, speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, that could be down to the recent upheaval regarding the managerial situation at Ibrox.

“Fans love watching him in full flow and, while the stats are not great of late, you’re gonna get that from a young player – he’s still learning the game,” Ferguson said.

“The problem is that he was having to carry many members of the team for a short period. I’m not surprised his performances have dipped – it’s natural with youngsters.

“When he come into the side, he was playing like he’d just come off the street – he was really enjoying his football.

“I just think with everything surrounding the managerial situation recently, plus the pressure from fans, it’s taken away from his enjoyment. That’s partly to explain for his drop-off. But he’ll come back, he’ll entertain fans, score goals.“
