Leeds United’s full focus will now turn to Saturday’s Championship opener against Portsmouth at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon and Jayden Bogle has sent a message to fans.

Leeds rounded off their pre-season with a 2-1 win over La Liga side Valencia, even more impressive given it was Valencia’s fifth pre-season match of the summer after finishing in the top half of La Liga last season.

Spanish media described Valencia’s performance as the “worst” of their five but that was largely down to how well leeds played. So much so, that Rafa Mir got himself sent off and Hugo Duro nearly followed him.

A brilliant atmosphere with the new yellow away kit turning what is normally a cauldron emblazoned by the home kit, into a white and yellow affair as Mateo Joseph and Georginio Rutter scored first-half goals.

Bogle sends message to Leeds fans ahead of 24-25 opener

Four wins from four in pre-season against decent opposition will have given this Leeds side plenty of confidence going into the new season. Plenty of players have impressed and the feel-good factor is back.

Leeds will be desperate to go all the way this season and not be forced to fight it out in the play-offs, which saw The Whites suffer defeat to Southampton at Wembley. Bogle is certainly excited to get going.

Bogle posted a message to fans on his Instagram on Monday, sharing his excitement ahead of Saturday when Leeds play host to Portsmouth. He said: “Positive end to pre-season. Excited for the season to start.”

Bogle set to be handed start on the right despite dead leg

The right-back is said to have picked up a dead leg on Saturday but that should not be enough to keep him out of this Saturday’s opener. He is likely to be the only new face in starting XI to face Portsmouth.

Joe Rodon is expected to slot in alongside Pascal Struijk with Junior Firpo at left-back. Ethan Ampadu is back in midfield, and Ilia Gruev started alongside him against Valencia during Saturday’s 2-1 win.

Up top, Dan James, Georginio Rutter and Willy Gnonto combined as the three behind Mateo Joseph. But Max Wober and Brenden Aaronson are back in the mix and Farke may end up making a change or two.
