Rangers defender John Souttar surgery update emerges – Exclusive

Rangers defender suffering multiple injuries is undoubtedly a cause for concern, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that he appears to have been stuck in a vicious cycle and is unable to get out of it due to the lack of fitness.

The 28-year-old has been out of action for nearly two weeks now with his last appearance coming in the 3-1 win over Hearts.

Gers may recall John Souttar late to pre-season

Even before his current injury, the Scotland international has suffered plenty of fitness issues all season which is a worry.

If the issue is recurring, he may potentially require surgery as well which he can undergo in the summer.

Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, exclusively told Ibrox News: “Certainly a cause for concern when a player picks up multiple injuries during a season.

However, isn’t all that unexpected because it can create a vicious injury cycle where the player loses fitness, confidence and rhythm which then leads to increased injury risk.

Difficult to say whether Souttar might need an operation because we don’t have many details on the injuries.

If it’s a recurrent issue, then potentially in the summer.

Should he go ahead with the operation, there will be a lengthy rehab which could delay his return to pre season.

Not having his best defender fit is certainly a big blow to his managerial credentials and he will be hoping that the centre-back returns soon.

Souttar offers an exceptional presence in the air and is also reliable with the ball at his feet as Gers like to build out from the back.

A brace from Cyriel Dessers was matched with goals from Vaclav Cerny and Nedim Bajrami, preventing a debut defeat for Ferguson.

Goldson, a former favourite at Rangers who has been sorely missed this season, reacted to the win in a new heartfelt message.
