Club reach agreement with West Ham to renegotiate deal

Graham Potter has a solution to the club’s long-term striker recruitment sitting right under his nose. Close examination of the under 21 side that beat Reading 3 – 0 will show the 18 year old talent tipped for the top ready and willing to take a step up and follow in Ollie Scarles footsteps.

Reported in the The Mirror yesterday, 18 year old former Chelsea academy striker Josh Ajala is tipped by many to be the missing piece in West Hams striker recruitment puzzle. Without long term injured Niclas Fullkrug and Michail Antonio, and with Danny Ings’ contract expiring in the summer, the Hammers have only on-loan Evan Ferguson as a traditional goal scorer.

Maxwel Cornet had joined Genoa on loan from West Ham in the winter transfer window.

The Frenchman didn’t quite make a mark in London but he is doing quite the opposite at Genoa.

He’s played four games in Serie A, scoring once and assisting once and is capturing some attention in Italy.

It now seems as if Genoa are interested in keeping the winger at the club for a longer time.

La Repubblica, as relayed by CalcioGenoa, have reported that the Italian club already have an agreement with West Ham to renegotiate the loan deal at the end of the season.

It remains to be seen as to what sort of agreement is later reached between the two parties but several options can be on the table.

There could be a possible extension of the loan deal and there could also be an option to buy Cornet at the end of that temporary move. The possibility of a permanent exit from West Ham has also been reported.

Cornet is currently only on a dry loan deal at Genoa.

Promoting Ajala to the senior squad will allow West Ham to see what the teenager is made of at Premier League level.
