Jose Cifuentes is expected to join Aris Thessaloniki within days after Rangers agreed a loan deal with the Greek club, according to Yellow Radio.
The Greek broadcaster reported via their website on Saturday (3 August) that Cifuentes, 25, is currently training alone at Cruzeiro, where he is currently on loan.
It is understood that Rangers still have some “minor details” to work out with the Brazilian club to terminate the Ecuador midfielder’s loan deal there.
Yellow Radio claims that a temporary deal is already in place for Cifuentes to head to Aris and within the next week, he’ll be wearing their yellow and black kit.
Jose Cifuentes surely finished as a Rangers player
Cifuentes only played 20 times in all competitions after joining the Gers from LAFC last summer after Michael Beale spent a good six months or so trying to sign the Ecuadorian.
It’s hard to remember a single good thing the midfielder did in those 20 games and since joining Cruzeiro on loan in the winter, he’s played only 12 more times.
He’s now said to be training alone in Brazil, meaning it’s not worthwhile for him to train with their squad any longer because there’s no benefit of it at all to anyone.
If Cifuentes is that bad and is now set to join a less-fashionable Greek club, it’s very clear that he’s not got any future at Ibrox and it’s just a matter of time that he leaves Govan for good.
Aris might want to sign him permanently at the end of that loan but there’s a good chance that won’t happen because we don’t expect him to do any better in Greece than he did in Scotland or Brazil.
