Newcastle United star Alexander Isak sends Liverpool brutal new transfer message
Newcastle United frontman Alexander Isak hit his 50th Premier League goal at the weekend to fire himself into the record books. Afterwards, the striker sent Liverpool, Barcelona and Arsenal a fresh message about his future.
Speculation around Isak remains constant. The Swede’s superb form this season and last means he has attracted transfer attention, with a number of European heavyweights casting envious glances at St James’ Park.
That form means that transfer speculation refuses to go away, but Isak continues to shoot that down. The 25-year-old insists that playing for Newcastle is ‘extra special’ and that he is happy in the Premier League, despite links with a return to La Liga where he starred for Real Sociedad before Newcastle signed him for £63million.
He told Prime Video Svergie: “Playing football at this level has always been a dream and probably the main dream that I’ve had. Playing in the Premier League for a club like Newcastle with a fan base like they have here is extra special.”
Barcelona had identified Isak as one of their top targets to reinforce their striker position. Robert Lewandowski remains a starter for Barca but will be 37 next season. Liverpool – who Newcastle face on Wednesday night in the Premier League in what will be a curtain-raiser for the Carabao Cup final – have emerged as the No.1 contender for the striker, however, as they look to remodel their attack next season as doubts remain over Salah’s future and Darwin Nunez not cutting it.
