Tottenham have a new leader in the team, according to former Ipswich man

Darren Ambrose has been mightily impressed by what he has seen so far from one of Tottenham’s January recruits, with the pundit suggesting that the player has already emerged as a leader for the club despite playing just three games.

Under Ange Postecoglou and Johan Lange, Tottenham have prioritised signing the best young and raw talent in the world and have tried to provide an environment where they can develop into finished products.

However, they have moved away from this playbook once or twice as we saw with the signing of Dominic Solanke in the summer and the addition of Kevin Danso to the squad during last month’s transfer window.

Danso arrives at N17 with plenty of experience under his belt, having already tasted Premier League football at Southampton previously, which has undoubtedly eased his settling-in period.

Kevin Danso is Tottenham Hotspur’s new leader at the back

The Austria international has seamlessly settled into the Tottenham backline since arriving from Lens and has shown his experience and nous so far.

His display in the club’s 1-0 win over Man Utd was the best out of the three, with the newcomer proving a commanding and calming presence at the back, which had been lacking over recent months.

Darren Ambrose has been mightily impressed with the 26-year-old so far, claiming that he already has the demeanour of a leader.

The pundit said on talkSPORT’s Inside Spurs: “In terms of Kevin Danso coming into the team, the biggest compliment you can give him is he’s looked like he’s been there for years.

“He’s come in, he looks assured. He’s done a recovery tackle last Sunday on Hojlund, who’s not slow, by the way, which was fantastic on Sunday. So yeah, it doesn’t look like a new signing and he looks like he’s a leader.”
