Rangers key player sign new deal with Celtic worth $81 million

The Nigerian international striker drew a blank as St Mirren ran out deserved 2-0 winners over Rangers with the Gers blowing their chance to cut the Scottish Premiership gap.

Speaking after the game, Cyriel Dessers has revealed that the Rangers team are sick and tired of apologising to fans who’ve been let down time and again this season.

The Rangers striker also described the defeat as ‘tough to take’ and questioned the team’s quality, tactics and mentality come full time.

“It’s a really difficult afternoon,” Dessers told RangersTV. “It’s tough to take.

”It’s a tough loss and especially at home. That’s not what you want to show here.

”Especially after our last home game we wanted to bounce back and give the fans something and we obviously didn’t.

”St Mirren’s not a bad team. They had a good plan and we didn’t have enough answers for that.

Rangers’ tepid performance against St Mirren has infuriated fans who’ve questioned the application of the team come the final whistle.

Rangers’ slow starts are becoming a feature of Philippe Clement’s team and Dessers gave an inclination as to why, with the team waiting for rivals to run out of steam before breaking them down.

”Obviously football works like that,” said Dessers when asked if Rangers were worried about giving St Mirren confidence.

”But also for us normally in the second half when teams get a little more tired then it will open up a little more for us and give us more opportunities.

”But today was the other way around and that’s not good to see. That’s painful to see.“

‘Hard words’ exchanged in Rangers dressing room

The big Rangers striker has also revealed that the Ibrox team have spoken about constantly needing to apologise to fans this season.

Dessers has urged the Rangers team to stand up and be counted with the games coming thick and fast over the next few weeks.
