Brennan Johnson scored twice, while Djed Spence and Dejan Kulusevski were also on target during Tottenham’s comprehensive 4-1 win at Ipswich Town at Portman Road.

t earned Spurs a measure of revenge for the defeat they suffered at the hands of the Tractor Boys in the reverse fixture and made it three straight Premier League wins.

However, referee Tim Robinson still came in for flak from certain sections of the fanbase over some questionable calls that thankfully from a Tottenham standpoint had no real bearing on the outcome.

There was one incident in particular doing the rounds on social media that caught the ire of some Tottenham fans in their win over Ipswich.

Dara O’Shea appeared to bodycheck Kevin Danso in the penalty area without making any real attempt to in the ball.

Robinson did not get a spot-kick, though, and there was no intervention from VAR to go and check the pitch-side monitor.

Ex-PGMOL chief Keith Hackett was left perplexed by that decision and, speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, said a penalty should have been awarded.

He said: “Law 12 states: A direct free kick is awarded if a player commits any of the following offences: impedes an opponent with contact.

“This is clearly what happened inside the penalty area. This should have resulted in a penalty kick.

“The player stepped into his opponent to impede his progress and in doing so made contact Where was Referee and VAR on this one?”

The good news for Tottenham is that the incident had no bearing on the outcome of the game and their run in the league now extends to three straight wins to relieve some pressure on Ange Postecoglou.

However, that is not really the point. The point is that it clearly should have been a penalty as O’Shea made no attempt at all to try and win the ball.
