Rangers take on St Mirren at Ibrox on Saturday and Philippe Clement has some key decisions to make ahead of the game.
Spirits will be lifted after the recent 3-1 win over Hearts even though the performance was far from impressive.
In his pre-match press conference, Clement confirmed that John Souttar is injured and therefore unavailable for the game.
Rangers could start Rafael Fernandes against St Mirren at Ibrox
With Souttar out for the short term and certainly for the game, Clement will now need to look at his bench options.
Against Hearts, the Scotland international played alongside summer signing Clinton Nsiala and the Belgian may have wanted to keep that unchanged.
However, that’s now not in his hands and he could turn to January signing Rafael Fernandes, who joined on loan from Lille.
While the 22-year-old centre-back has made his debut, he’s not yet started a league game for the Ibrox outfit.
His only start thus far was in the infamous 1-0 defeat against Queen’s Park in the Scottish FA Cup.
St Mirren go into this clash as massive underdogs
St Mirren go into the game at Ibrox as massive underdogs given the gulf between the two sides on the table.
While Gers sit in second place with 56 points, St Mirren are in sixth place with 31 points.
The gap in the bottom half is so small between the clubs as 11th place Dundee are just four points behind Stephen Robinson’s side.
They’ve also won just one of their last five games and are expected to remain compact at Ibrox this weekend, hoping to keep a low back and hit the hosts on the counter attack.
Clement knows that anything but a convincing performance and the three points will see the questions being asked of his management once again.
