Rangers have added Robin Pröpper to their ranks ahead of the new campaign kicking off against Hearts.

The Gers travel to Tynecastle on Scottish Premiership duties and will kick off the new campaign in Edinburgh will all eyes set to point towards Gorgie.

But whilst there will be a number of new faces in the travelling Rangers squad, the Ibrox club’s supporters are keen to see if Robin Pröpper will be making up the numbers.

Philippe Clement has been tight-lipped about the 30-year-old ex-FC Twente captain making the journey up the M8 and now the biggest clue yet about the defender’s inclusion has just dropped.

Clement on Pröpper

Speaking ahead of the clash with Hearts, Philippe Clement was glowing in his praise of Robin Pröpper.

The Eredivisie star has never played outside of the Netherlands and after carving out a career with De Graafschap, Heracles Almelo & FC Twente, now finds himself in Glasgow.

Pröpper has some big boots to fill in the shape of outgoing Ibrox vice-captain Connor Goldson and fans want to know if the centre-back will be thrown into the mix v the Jambos.

Clement, in his usual style, has no interest in giving up crucial details surrounding the £1.5m Eredivisie ‘bargain’.

However the Rangers manager was clear that if the club have to call upon the Pröpper, then the centre-back will be ready.

We don’t know yet (if Propper can play) because I don’t think all the papers are already arranged,” Clement told the press heading into the game.

“The good thing is, physically, he is ready to play games because he had a normal preparation with FC Twente who play at a good level. He played enough games. Of course, he needs to adapt to how we want to play because it’s different to Twente.”

Pröpper in Rangers squad

The good news is that if it genuinely comes down to paperwork, then it appears Robin Pröpper has been signed, sealed and delivered for Rangers heading into the clash with Hearts.

That’s because centre-back Pröpper has been included in the Rangers squad for the club’s upcoming Champions League QR3 clash with Dynamo Kiev.

As per the official UEFA website, Pröpper‘s name has been registered in time to face off against the Ukrainians and this is certainly a positive when it comes to the clash with Hearts.

Nothing is guaranteed of course and Rangers fans will be eagerly awaiting the release of the first teamsheet of the season.

But as far as we can see there is nothing stopping Robin Pröpper being included in the squad as the Gers get ready to kick things off v Hearts.
