Paraag Marathe of the San Francisco 49ers has already been to Ibrox after Rangers rolled out the red carpet for him.

The 49ers Enterprises are looking to take over at Ibrox and are reportedly in advanced discussions to buy a controlling share in the Light Blues.

Marathe is currently Leeds United’s chairman, and it remains to be seen how the American consortium’s potential takeover will affect the Bears.

Some supporters are sceptical of the possible deal, but some VIPs have already been spotted at one of the Glaswegian outfit’s games.

Marathe was invited by the Ibrox board as the Gers took on Manchester United in the Europa League, according to the Daily Record.

The news outlet reports the Leeds chairman was one of a group of VIPs from America who attended Old Trafford as Ruben Amorim’s team won 2-1 on 23 January.

Cyriel Dessers had equalised for the Light Blues late on in the fixture before Bruno Fernandes scored a stoppage-time winner for the Red Devils.

Marathe’s invitation seemingly shows a clear indication of the willingness of the current Rangers hierarchy to hand over power to the 49ers Enterprises.

The Ibrox faithful will be looking forward to the 49ers taking over after what has been a few underwhelming years at the Glaswegian outfit.
