Leeds United want to sign NEC attacker Sontje Hansen as their potential Crysencio Summerville replacement, according to Voetbal International.

The Dutch outlet reported on 3 August that League One side Birmingham City are also being mentioned as a possible destination for Hansen.

Should the NEC Nijmegen ace be allowed to leave, a high transfer fee is expected due to the length of time left on his current deal.

Leeds United signing Sontje Hansen feels all too familiar

Before joining Leeds, Summerville also plied his trade in the Eredivisie. The attacker was on the books at Feyenoord but was sold to the West Yorkshire outfit for around £1.3million.

And now his sale to West Ham is near to completion, the fact that the club have managed to rake in a fee worth £20million-plus [Florian Plettenberg, 3 August] shows that their recruitment strategy is working.

Hansen arrived at his current club from Ajax last season and has managed to contribute to 13 goals across all competitions.

The attacker is just 22 years old and still has plenty of room to develop into a player of similar quality to that of Summerville.

Hansen was deployed across the front three last term which outlines the versatility the Dutchman possesses.

This could prove vital for the Whites as they could still lose Willy Gnonto [Alan Myers, 29 July] after the exit of Summerville.

The Italian international has been long linked with a move to Everton and whilst rumours have started to dwindle, the fact that the Toffees reignited their interest this season shows how highly they rate the attacker.
