Hamza Igamane claims Europa League rival is a ‘brother’, admits he wants to partner him soon

Hamza Igamane knows that he needs to be firing on all cylinders with Rangers if he’s to achieve his dream with the Morocco national team.

The 22-year-old striker has been clear that it is his major ambition to play for the Atlas Lions, with reports that Morocco are to consider calling Igamane up in March.

But the Rangers hitman knows there is going to be stiff competition to make the grade, with semi-finalists Morocco the surprise package at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Hamza Igamane on Europa League ‘brother’

Amongst that competition will be Europa League rival Ayoub El Kaabi, who scored against Rangers for Olympiakos in this season’s competition.

Hamza Igamane has been speaking about his relationship with the striker – who fired Olympiakos to the Europa Conference League this season – and how he can take inspiration from the hitman at Ibrox.

“El Kaabi is a brother, he is someone I really like,” Igamane told Onze Mondial.

”Of course I was able to draw inspiration from him. He still won the Europa Conference League with Olympiakos and he finished top scorer in the tournament, that’s not nothing. His influence is positive.

“It makes me want to work even more, to follow in his footsteps, and why not achieve something wonderful with the Rangers?

“I don’t hesitate to observe the most experienced players to get the best ideas from them.”

Rangers striker hoping for Morocco call

Hamza Igamane has also been speaking about how ‘happy’ he is at Rangers amid links to the Premier League.

The 22-year-old hitman has been settling into Scottish football after a summer switch from his home country and has begun to pop up on the radars of several clubs.

But when it comes to a call-up, Igamane is happy to leave that decision with the Morocco national team set-up as he focuses on making an impact at Rangers.
