Title-winning ‘tank’ would be open to joining Newcastle United this summer
Newcastle United are surely going to need a big summer in the transfer window.
While Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has done remarkably well to get his squad to go again this season, there’s only so long this same group of players can keep performing without fresh investment.
Though there are reasons – largely due to PSR – as to why PIF have not spent to any significant degree at Newcastle, it just cannot continue into another summer window.
Luckily, Newcastle insiders think they’re in a good position to spend this summer and, naturally, names have been linked with a move to St James’ Park.
One of the more recent ones is in fact Bayer Leverkusen star and Bundesliga title-winner, Victor Boniface.
Newcastle United set to be offered Victor Boniface
As per the Bundesliga’s official website, the Nigerian international has been described as a “tank” by teammate Robert Andrich.
The 24-year-old scored 14 goals in 23 Bundesliga games last season as Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen stormed to the title, while he has followed that up with seven goals in 12 games so far this season.
According to The Chronicle, Newcastle are set to be offered a move for Boniface, who came close to joining Al Nassr during the January transfer window.
The report claims the forward would be open to the idea of a move to Newcastle, albeit his agents are looking for exit routes all around Europe and beyond.
Victor Boniface injury record should worry Newcastle
Newcastle do not need another injury-prone striker, no matter how good they are.
Callum Wilson is out of contract at the end of the season and while he remains a wonderful back-up option for Alexander Isak in theory, the fact he cannot stay fit is hugely frustrating.
Newcastle should certainly keep that in mind…
