Barcelona identify Alexander Isak as top summer target
Barcelona have reportedly identified Alexander Isak as their top striker target for the summer, although it’s difficult to see any move materialising.
According to El Churinguito TV, Alexander Isak has popped on top of Barcelona’s summer list. The Catalans want to bring in a top-draw striker with the view of replacing the experienced Robert Lewandowski, although there are considerable doubts whether they can pull off the signing of the Newcastle United star due to the finances involved in the deal,
Barcelona are hoping to have a bright summer window next time around as the club wishes to strengthen the squad to the top levels. Financial constraints have tied Barcelona’s hands to a certain degree, which has in turn prevented them from chasing some of the biggest names in the market.
One of the immediate concerns for Hansi Flick will be the centre-forward position, as the German manager might look to replace veteran Robert Lewandowski. There are some names mentioned in reports, while Barcelona are also reportedly in talks with Jonathan David, who is set to leave LOSC Lille on a free transfer in the summer.
One other name that has been mentioned in many reports over the last few months is that of Alexander Isak. The 25-year-old Newcastle United star has been one of the top-performing centre-forwards this season and over the last two years. The Magpies are set to demand a big fee to sell him, which casts doubt on the Catalans and their ability to pull off such a deal.
Many teams are chasing Isak as things stand, and in a much better capacity than Barcelona to sort out the finances for a deal like this one. Chief among those are Arsenal, with Mikel Arteta a huge fan of the 25-year-old Newcastle United star, and already viewing him as their top summer target.
