David Ornstein shares how much Alexander Isak is actually worth at Newcastle United

Newcastle United kept ahold of Alexander Isak until the end of the season at least despite concrete interest from Arsenal.

The Swede has been electric for Newcastle United this season, overcoming a shaky start which only saw him score once in his opening six Premier League games.

Alexander Isak now sits on 17 league goals this campaign, only Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah have scored more. Newcastle are adamant about keeping the 25-year-old at the club past this season but faces a tough task in keeping him there.

Newcastle hope to offer Isak a new contract at the end of the season. However, there are a couple of things from the player’s side that need to be ironed out first.

Isak wants to be Newcastle’s top earner, trumping Bruno Guimaraes‘ £160,000-a-week wage. Isak also wants Callum Wilson’s number nine shirt if he is to sign a new deal.

The belief around the club is that qualifying for the Champions League will also be a massive boost to their chances of keeping him.

With talk of a possible transfer away persisting, David Ornstein has now gone on record to say how much he believes Newcastle’s star striker is worth.

Alexander Isak’s actual market value

Reports have suggested that Isak would cost £150m for any interested party in January or the summer. However, David Ornstein of the Athletic has said otherwise.

To start, Ornstein does not even believe that Newcastle will be willing to sell Isak at any price, let alone £150m.

On the Athletic’s transfer Deadline Day show, Ornstein was asked about Isak and how much he believes he is worth.

“Mikel Arteta loves Alexander Isak,” he said

“But it’s going to be so expensive if it’s even possible to get him out of Newcastle. They certainly don’t think he’s going at Newcastle.
