Rangers transfer round-up: Ridvan Yilmaz twist, shock Deadline Day exit on cards
Rangers may do some more business before the winter transfer window slams shut on Monday.
Philippe Clement’s side have had a quiet window in terms of signings, with Rafael Fernandes being the only player to come through the doors at Ibrox.
However, they have sanctioned loan exits for four players, including Rabbi Matondo and Kieran Dowell, while Alex Lowry has joined Wycombe Wanderers on a permanent deal.
Meanwhile, a few players, including Cyriel Dessers and Ridvan Yilmaz continue to be linked with a move away from Govan ahead of deadline day.
Here, Ibrox News rounds up all the transfer news from Sunday, 2 February.
Ridvan Yilmaz twist emerges
Turkish journalist Gokmen Ozcan reported on 1 February that Besiktas are most interested in signing Yilmaz before the window closes.
However, in a quick turn of events, it emerged that the left-back could end up staying in Glasgow, with the Super Lig giants targeting AS Roma’s Samuel Dahl [Sabah].
Afonso Moreira update drops at Rangers
Rangers have been credited with an interest in signing Afonso Moreira from Sporting CP in the final days of the winter transfer window.
However, those claims are wide of the mark, according to Record Sport (2 February), with sources close to the Primeira Liga club dismissing the Gers’ interest in the 19-year-old.
Shock Zak Lovelace exit on cards
Zak Lovelace could be in line for a shock return to the Championship before the deadline on Monday [William Scott, 1 February].
Millwall are reportedly interested in re-signing the 19-year-old as they prepare for a busy end to the window.
To add fuel to the fire, Clement left the attacker from his matchday squad to face Ross County on Sunday (2 February) despite him being part of the team in Rangers’ last two Premiership games.
Rangers miss out on Aaron Anselmino
Rangers have been linked with a deadline-busting move for Aaron Anselmino at Chelsea [Scottish Sun, 2 February].
However, that ship has already sailed, with Marseille agreeing to sign the teenage centre-back on loan, according to the very reliable Fabrizio Romano.
In other Rangers news, this Gers star was caught in a “howler” on BBC in the 4-0 win against Ross County.
