Brighton in talks to sign ‘powerful’ Rangers target with ‘very clear talent’
Rangers are no different to any other club in that they experience many transfer near misses.
It is just the nature of the game with so many players looked at by recruitment teams but so many different circumstances dictating whether or not a move can be made.
Rangers have so far had a quiet January transfer window with just the one signing – central defender Rafael Fernandes on loan from Lille.
Kieran Dowell is the most high-profile Gers exit as he joined Birmingham on loan and he’s been joined by Alex Lowry, Robbie Fraser, Cole McKinnon, Leyton Grant, Kristian Webster and Archie Stevens in going out on loan.
It remains to be seen whether there will be more ins or outs ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline but Philippe Clement and Nils Koppen will certainly be monitoring things.
But one player who the club had an interest in back in the summer could now move to the Premier League.
Brighton in talks to sign former Rangers target Tommy Watson
Brighton are said to be in talks with Sunderland over a move for teen sensation Tommy Watson.
Sky Sports are reporting the two clubs are in discussions around the 18-year-old winger who has burst onto the scene this season for the Mackems.
Negotiations are said to be ongoing between the Premier League outfit and their Championship counterparts.
Watson has two goals from ten appearances in the second tier this season having had his debut during the 2022/23 campaign and featuring once again last season.
It was reported previously that Rangers had been taking a look at Watson.
That interest reportedly came in the summer as Gers monitored the talented teen along with Nottingham Forest.
Whether or not that Ibrox interest remains is not clear but Brighton would likely be able to blow the club out of the water regardless.
Watson a ‘powerful’ young player
Sunderland boss Regis le Bris previously told how he held talks with Watson about his future, at the same time as talking up his attributes.
