Daniel Levy is determined to bring one England man through the door before the February 3 deadline and the Tottenham chairman is now personally driving the talks in the final few days of the window.
Tottenham plotting late move for 24-year-old
Angel Gomes is now into the final six months of his contract at Lille, and it had been widely reported that Tottenham are looking to tie up a deal to sign the midfielder on a free transfer in the summer.
However, over recent days, a number of outlets have suggested that Spurs are plotting a surprise move to sign the 24-year-old before the current window slams shut.
It remains to be seen if Spurs are successful in their efforts to do that, but a fresh update has now suggested that Levy is expected to pull out all the stops to ensure a deal goes through.
Daniel Levy is on a mission to sign Angel Gomes
GiveMeSport have now claimed that the Tottenham chairman has made it a ‘personal mission’ to make Gomes a Spurs player before the end of the current window.
The Lille man is now ‘a prime target’ for the North London club, with Levy taking ‘a keen involvement’ in the discussions that have taken place this month over a deal to sign the Englishman.
The report says that Tottenham have ‘maintained regular contact’ with Gomes‘ representatives through the window since first holding discussions at the beginning of this month.
The Premier League side have allegedly told Lille that they are ready to offer cash for the midfielder if they are willing to do a deal in the final days of the window.
Gomes’ stance on Spurs interest revealed
However, GiveMeSport say that despite the ‘persistence’ that Tottenham are showing, the Lille man remains ‘undecided’ about his future.
