The Sky Sports journalist reported on X [1 February] that the Hammers appear to be favourites to sign the 18-year-old from the Hoops.

Graham Potter needs a new striker option this winter, and the Hammers have been linked to multiple during the course of the window.

With just days remaining until the 3 February deadline, a forward hasn’t been added to the squad in East London but could be on the way in the coming days.

This could see Cummings swap the Scottish Premiership for the Premier League in a pre-contract deal with the Hammers.

If an agreement can be reached for the youngster, there is every chance he could be handed a first-team opportunity sooner than he might expect.

Given that Cummings has made just one appearance for Brendan Rodgers’ side, he may feel opportunities will be more forthcoming elsewhere.

It will be interesting to see what the Hammers can realistically offer to the teenager and whether that would tempt him into signing a contract in the capital.

The forward is certainly one for the future but a deal is there to be sorted in the here and now.

In other West Ham news, negotiations have kicked off over a £33m striker signing.
